Mira Kamada

Mira Shallcross Kamada is a contemporary painter living in Portimão, PT., recently arrived from the USA. Her fascination with painting started early when she began to study oil painting. As a budding artist she frequented art museums and galleries in Manhattan. The landmark exhibition,“New York Painting and Sculpture: 1940-1970” at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, featuring the Abstract Expressionists, was a pivotal event in her artistic awakening. Her varied career in the arts includes teaching, graphic design, and book publishing.

Mira’s work has been exhibited across the US, Canada and Portugal. Her paintings are in both private and public collections, including the Simonyi Family Collection, and the Ritz Carleton. They have also appeared in feature films.
