Liza Walker

Born in the south of England and rooted in the Algarve for almost 30 years, Liza Walker creates from a small studio in the western Algarve—a space where colour, light, and creative chaos come together in the art of stained glass.

Self‑taught and guided by instinct, Liza works with the Tiffany technique. From the first moment she touched a glass cutter, she felt compelled to explore this ancient craft. Each artwork begins as a vision, then becomes a hand‑cut piece of glass, carefully cleaned, foiled, soldered, and a patina is applied. For the past decade, she has been captivated by how glass can hold and release colour, shifting with every change of light.

“My work is rooted in the belief that colour has its own emotional flow—one that shifts and dances as sunlight passes through each piece. I create stained‑glass artworks that transform spaces throughout the day, casting sun shadows that feel alive and ever‑changing.”

Liza follows no strict style—only the mood, the moment, and the colours that speak to her. Stained glass is her way of painting with light, and her obsession with colour shapes every piece she creates.

Each piece displayed is a unique creation. She welcomes commissions and enjoys collaborating with clients to bring their ideas to life.

Nascida no sul da Inglaterra e radicada no Algarve há quase 30 anos, Liza Walker cria num pequeno estúdio no Algarve Ocidental — um espaço onde a cor, a luz e o caos criativo se unem na arte do vitral.

Autodidata e guiada pelo instinto, Liza trabalha com a técnica Tiffany. Desde o primeiro momento em que tocou num cortador de vidro, sentiu-se compelida a explorar este ofício ancestral. Cada obra começa como uma visão, que depois se transforma numa peça de vidro cortada à mão, cuidadosamente limpa, folheada, soldada e recebe uma pátina. Na última década, tem-se fascinado pela forma como o vidro consegue reter e libertar cor, transformando-se com cada mudança de luz.

“O meu trabalho baseia-se na crença de que a cor tem o seu próprio fluxo emocional — um fluxo que se transforma e dança à medida que a luz solar atravessa cada peça. Crio obras de arte em vitral que transformam espaços ao longo do dia, projetando sombras solares que parecem vivas e em constante mudança.”

Liza não segue um estilo rígido — apenas o humor, o momento e as cores que lhe inspiram. O vitral é a sua forma de pintar com a luz, e a sua obsessão pela cor molda cada peça que cria.
